The Cleveland band, Disco Inferno will provide music for the 2008 Gala "Diamonds, Denim and Disco," on Saturday, Feb. 2 at the JCC.
The dancefloor is being assembled, the tables set, the food has been ordered, the casino is being constructed, and the silent auction is being assembled for this coming Saturday's big event - Gala 2008 "Diamonds, Denim and Disco" beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Greater Columbus. According to co-chairs Denise Glimcher and Carrie Madison, the 15th annual event promises to be a night you won't want to miss.
"We transform the JCC for the event, and it's always fun to come and see what we do with the facility," said Glimcher, who along with her co-chair and Gala committee, chose the theme of "Diamonds, Denim and Disco." Recent Gala themes have included "Hooray for Hollywood" (2007) and a "Get On Board" Caribbean Cruise (2006). "We hope that the themes and entertainment options will appeal to all age groups," she said.
"Gala is a really fun way to see a lot of people, get together with friends and people you haven't seen in awhile, dance to the band and play casino games," said Madison. "I think that people with many different interests will find a lot of things to do that evening - and, of course, it supports a great cause - the JCC."
Guests will enjoy an array of Kosher treats, such as mini burgers, barbecue brisket, various chips and dips, delicious desserts, and other Boogie Wonderland treats (including a signature cocktail). The Crystal Ballroom Casino will be using real Las Vegas rules, with prizes including $2,000 in cash, a $500 Polaris Mall gift card, and a 32" flat screen HDTV. In addition, guests will be taking home Gala photo mementos and other treats, as well as have plenty of time to check out the silent auction items.
Gala 2008 offers Studio 54-style entertainment with the Cleveland band, Disco Inferno. "The members of Disco Inferno take their image, as well as their music, very seriously and therefore take to the stage wearing the most ridiculous - but, sadly, completely accurate - 70s clothes, wigs, sideburns and make up," states information provided by the band's management company.
