Play. Dine. Shop. airs on Time Warner

The new show, Play., Dine. Shop. promoting Columbus debuted May 15 on Time Warner Cable. Available on the Local On Demand channel 1111, the first show was themed Girls Day Out in the Short North Arts District. The host of the show is Amy Weirick of Weirick Communications, which does tourism public relations for Experience Columbus. Two more shows are planned for the spring/summer travel season.

National meeting association honors Schafrath

The Society of Government Meeting Planners (SGMP) honored Jamie Schafrath, Experience Columbus national sales manager, with its President’s Award. The honor, which is awarded at the discretion of the president, is given for an exemplary and extraordinary achievement. Schafrath serves as 2nd vice president and membership chair of the SGMP Buckeye chapter, and is the regional representative for Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota and Indiana.

New videos promote Columbus’ unique districts

Experience Columbus recently launched new videos showcasing the city’s vibrant, visitor-friendly districts. Featured areas are the Arena District, Downtown Columbus, Easton Town Center, German Village, The Ohio State University and the Short North Arts District.

Video released to promote group travel to Columbus

Experience Columbus debuted a new video promoting many of the experiential activities available to groups in Columbus. The video was shown at Heartland Travel Showcase, held in February in Pittsburgh. Columbus will host Heartland, the largest regional motorcoach marketplace in the United States, Feb. 18-21, 2010. Jon Petz of Magical Experiences starred in the video, which was produced by pagetech limited.

Festival season promoted

Festivals and special events were promoted in a recent Experience Columbus public relations campaign that included a video and Web page, designed by Grip Technology. The events featured are members of the Greater Columbus Events Council, a co-operative marketing group comprised of annual festivals and large-scale special events.

Twisitor Center launched

Experience Columbus debuted its Columbus Twisitor Center. The Twisitor Center is a trackable conversation and virtual visitor center on Twitter. It’s created by inviting Twitter users to include the hashtag #ExpCols into their tweets when looking to give or receive information about experiencing Columbus.

Mark your calendar for The Morning Sports Report

Hear the inside scoop on the local sports scene at The Morning Sports Report, the annual meeting of the Greater Columbus Sports Commission. The event will feature representatives from the Blue Jackets, the Crew, the Clippers and OSU, along with other local sports celebrities. It will be held July 30 at Arena District Hyatt Regency.

Plan to attend the Ohio Tourism Division’s Town Hall Meeting

Learn about new tourism resources and partnership opportunities with the Ohio Tourism Division. A Town Hall Meeting will be held 10 a.m.-noon on June 4 at The Place at The Woodward in Mount Vernon. RSVP by June 1 to Joy Doty.
