New sales initiatives
1st Annual Columbus Memorial Golf Experience
Experience Columbus’ convention sales team added two programs to its ongoing efforts to attract convention, meeting and trade show business to Columbus.
D.C. Luncheon program
On April 30, Experience Columbus launched its quarterly D.C. Luncheon program. Experience Columbus sales staff, along with Central Ohio community and political leaders, hosted 14 meeting professionals from the Washington, D.C. area. The next luncheon is tentatively scheduled for September.
The objective of the luncheons is to educate meeting professionals on developments that have and will take place in Columbus, communicate the specific benefits an organization receives when choosing Columbus as their destination for conventions and tradeshows and most importantly, demonstrate the community-wide commitment to each group's overall success.
Experience Columbus also has a year-round presence in Washington, D.C. Last July, Regina Gray joined the Convention Sales team as a national sales manager based in Washington, D.C.
1st Annual Columbus Memorial Golf Experience
Six meeting professionals, representing major conventions and association management groups considering Columbus, attended the 1st Annual Columbus Memorial Golf Experience June 4-5. The group attended the Jim Flick Executive Golf School, played 18 holes of golf at Muirfield Country Club, watched the PGA's Memorial Tournament from a sky box suite on the 14th green and was entertained at the Experience Columbus hospitality house along the course.
“The business of attracting conventions is competitive – and becoming even more competitive in today’s economy,” said Brian Ross, Experience Columbus vice president of sales. “This is a creative, new way for us to go after that business, while demonstrating all that Columbus has to offer as a convention destination.”
