ADAMH is pleased to welcome Franklin County Commissioner Paula Brooks as our Special Keynote Speaker at the 2009 ADAMH Annual Meeting on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. at The Center for Workforce Development at Columbus State Community College, 315 Cleveland Avenue.
ADAMH has a long history of partnering with local agencies to benefit and improve our community. Today, thousands of homeless Franklin County residents face obstacles preventing them from securing permanent housing; to date, approximately 64 percent of homeless Franklin County residents are in need of mental health care or substance abuse treatment. To meet this great need, ADAMH partners with organizations like the Community Shelter Board (CSB) to combat these issues.
All too often the families of individuals with a mental illness or substance abuse issues live life in constant fear and worry. Their problems, their emotional struggle, and their concerns go unheard. For Edith Richardson, the effects of her husband's struggle with drugs have been life altering.
The Consumer and Family Advocacy Council (CFAC) is a group of volunteers who advocate on behalf of consumers and family members suffering from mental illnesses and addictions. Anyone interested in joining CFAC are welcome to attend the group's monthly meetings. All CFAC meetings are open to the public.
The holidays bring many wonderful things—good food, family visits, twinkling lights and special traditions. Unfortunately for some, the stress of the holiday season outweighs the joys. Here are some tips to help you get through this, and every, holiday.
ADAMH has been in both print and broadcast media several times during the past few months. Here are a few highlights.
